I shoot photos…

Back when I was a graphic design student at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1975, we were required to take a B&W photography course. I didn’t know what to expect and I didn’t even have or know how to work a camera. The camera problem solved itself when my uncle lent me one of his old cameras, a Pentax Spotmatic with a 50mm Super-Takumar prime lens, he also gave me a bunch of boxes of Kodak photo paper, some Tri-X and I was all set! While I see myself as a graphic designer and illustrator first, photography from those first sometimes blurry, under or over exposed B&W photos has become one of my passion. I do design & illustration work every day, but part of each day is always dedicated to the art of photography in some way. Back in those early days with the old Spotmatic, I was very cautious about what I shot, never wanting to waste a single frame, but in today’s brave new digital world we can shoot anything and everything we see and not have to be so cautious or selective, we can be random, even creative, in control or out of control, like or unlike, keep it or delete, it’s a vicious, but enjoyable hobby.
